The Nine98 - Second Edition.

We’re continuing this newsletter to show what building a football app in public looks like. In return for a few minutes of time each week, we’ll give you our best stories & insights from the world of football + tech + startup. Done right, this will bring us closer to our goal of making Nine98 the world’s largest amateur football community, with 'The Nine98' at its core. We’re targeting an MVP release in early Q4 2024 but there’s plenty of value on the table right now. So why wait? You can expect a mix of product updates; storytelling; interviews and content from top players and industry leaders; and rewards because we can. As we’ve learned from web3, it doesn’t really mean fuck all if we don’t bring our people with us.

What's New at Nine98 This Week

Development Updates:

• Design Insights: Week Two of showing off some more design pieces!
  
  Take a look at the initial ‘Game Logging’ screens that will be available in the MVP of our Nine98 App allowing users to simple; open the app & jump into logging your most recent performances.

• As you can see; we are focusing on being able to log:
  - Where you played
  - Goals & Assists
  - Fitness Rating (out of 10)
  - Sharpness Rating (out of 10)
  - Overall Rating (out of 10)
  
  Then from here, it’s the more social side to game logging where you can name your activities, add photos and specifics about the type of game you played alongside tagging others that played with you.

• Social Media Highlights: This week, it’s been all about FPL. By now, you should be involved in our fantasy league (last minute entry link here) to come up against other managers in our growing community! We’ve been posting some fun reels to maximise our engagement and participation on socials and although they will slow down - there will be a weekly highlight of the ‘TOTW’ and league standings in this newsletter.

Highlighting Our Community:

• Action from Brock again this week! Unfortunately, not the results or game time we wanted for our boys, with Ben Hall still injured and JT only featuring for moments off the bench in a 5-1 defeat to Millbrook and a 3-3 draw with Bournemouth Poppies. Over the next week, there are another two home games for the Brock boys as they face Hamble this weekend, followed by Backfield & Langley on Tuesday evening under the lights. We aim to be there again on Tuesday to support!

• You guys went CRAZY for one of our most recent reels as we clocked in over 1,000 comments on a recent TikTok which has resulted in a massive surge in our Waitlist Signups which yet again - if you' haven’t signed up yet - do it here!

(continued from last week) At Nine98, we're building more than an app—we're creating a hub for the 99.8% of footballers who love the game but don't play professionally. Our core features include game logging and performance tracking, allowing players to document their journey and improve. Additionally, our digital jersey swaps foster connections and celebrate the sport. As we look forward, we’re excited about integrating advanced analytics, AI-driven insights, and wearable tech to elevate the player experience even further.

Jersey Swaps: We’re introducing the unique concept of digital jersey swaps. This feature allows players to exchange digital jerseys/shirts after matches, symbolising camaraderie and sportsmanship. It’s a modern twist on a traditional football tradition, enabling players to collect and showcase their achievements within the app. With each swap, players build their digital wardrobe, creating a personalised record of their football journey. Of course, you can create your own jersey and customise it the further you progress with your Nine98 journey. In the future through live events, in-app challenges and more, you’ll unlock even further customisation levels.
